Staircase layouts for different buildings
A steel staircase should suit the available footprint, landing levels and intended use. A straight flight can provide a direct route between floors, while a spiral staircase offers a different layout for tighter spaces. Exterior access stairs and industrial platforms need coordinated connections, clear access and a finish specified for the exposure conditions.
Treads, stringers, landings and handrails
Stair fabrication brings together supporting stringers, treads, landing frames, balustrades and fixing plates. Share the floor-to-floor height, access width, connection drawings and proposed tread arrangement. Staircase handrails and guardrails should be planned together with the stair geometry.
Materials and finishes
Mild steel is a common starting point for fabricated stair frames. Galvanized steel, painted steel and stainless steel components may be specified according to the design, environment and finish requirements. Material grades, protective coatings and connection details are confirmed for the individual project.
